Third Sunday of Advent sermon. Gospel Reading: Matthew 11:2-11
In the sermon this week, Pastor Tim reviewed the context of Isaiah and talks about how preparation for what is to come can bring us Joy in our lives now. The world can't wait for Joy to be only something that occurs in the future, but as people of faith we need to bring Joy today. Remember, though, Joy and happiness are not the same thing.

Second Sunday of Advent. Gospel Reading: Matthew 3:1-12.
In the sermon this week, Pastor Tim sets the context of the Isaiah passage and asks us to wonder what it would be like for the lamb the first time they are asked to lie with the lion and trusting that it would be safe. Are there things that the lion could do to help the lamb feel safe? That point is expounded to today's world and asking us who are the lions and the lamb sin today's world? One of the things the lions could do to help gain the trust of the lambs is through repentance. Admitting the hurt that they have caused and asking for forgiveness. The church needs to do this. What other systems need to do this that have cause systemic racism, sexism, etc...?

Time after Pentecost - Lectionary 32 sermon. Gospel Reading: Luke 20:27-38
This week, Pastor Tim talks about context, context and context, when it comes to reading and interpreting scripture. It can be very helpful, especially when we read texts like today which are about a woman marrying 7 brothers and everyone dying childless! A quote to remember from this week is, "Our faith isn't how to have life after death, but rather, how to have life before death!" Thanks for listening.

Reformation Sunday sermon. Gospel Reading: John 8:31-36.
In his sermon this week, Pastor Tim talks about Confirmation, the Reformation and Stewardship Sunday. It is based on the quote, "If the past was as great as you think it was, the present wouldn't be as messed up as you think it is." Essentially, we lie to ourselves The point being, we lie to ourselves to justify the life we want and blame others for the problems in the world. Faith should free us to own our part and to live an authentic life.
